Turin,  January 27th 2025 – Lancia makes its eagerly-anticipated return to motorsport and rallying in 2025, thanks to the new Lancia Ypsilon Rally4 HF and the all-new Trofeo Lancia, which celebrates its first season in Lancia’s homeland of Italy. The rallies that make up the Italian Rally Championship (CIAR) will open up a new chapter in the competition history of the iconic Turin-based marque, with a calendar featuring six events across five rallies and an incredible top prize: a seat as part of Lancia’s official team on the 2026 European Rally Championship (ERC) if the champion is under 35!

This is a unique prize together with a mythical name in the Italian motorsport landscape, designed to bring young talent to the top tier of international competition. The top prize complements an already impressive prize pool worth €160k, with prizes totalling more than €22,500 handed out on every event. Although registrations have still not opened, more than 80 Lancia Ypsilon Rally4 HF cars have already been pre-ordered across Europe. This outstanding number makes the compact rally challenger a commercial success even before its homologation, scheduled for March 1, 2025.

Lancia returns to rallying with the Ypsilon Rally4 HF and Trofeo Lancia, offering thrilling events, unique prizes, and a celebration of motorsport heritage in Italy.

Each rally on the calendar will feature the “Lancia Corse HF Village” in the service park: a vibrant hub where drivers, industry professionals, guests, partners, and fans can come together to immerse themselves in a brand that, with its 10 world titles, has written more memorable pages in the history of rallying than any other.

Lancia will play a key role as the promoter of the Trophy, which has already secured the support of major partners including Michelin and Sparco. The Turin-based brand will also be supported by two other important entities in the world of motorsport: LPD Italia, managing the sporting, technical, and logistical aspects, and Gino Motorsport, overseeing spare parts at race events.

LOW COSTS,  A GENEROUS PRIZE POT, AND THREE ELIGIBLE CATEGORIES

The registration fee for the 2025 Trofeo Lancia is just €2,500 for the entire season, with additional options available for those who wish to participate in selected rounds. The cost includes official Lancia CORSE HF racing overalls and championship racewear, both designed by Sparco, and allows each crew to compete both in the overall standings as well as in one of the three eligible categories:

  • Junior: Open to all drivers under 25 (born on or after January 1, 2001).
  • Master: For drivers aged 25 to 35 (born between January 1, 1990, and December 31, 2000).
  • Expert: Reserved for drivers over 35 (born before January 1, 1990).

Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category, resulting in nine drivers being awarded at every race. Specifically:

  • The winners of the Junior and Master categories will each receive a prize of €5,000.
  • Second-place finishers in these categories will earn a prize of €3,000.
  • Third-place finishers will be awarded with a prize of €1,500.

Drivers competing in the Expert category will have a dedicated prize pool as follows:

  • €2,000 for the winner, €1,000 for the runner-up, and €500 for the third-place finisher.

THE TOP PRIZE: DESTINATION EUROPE!

Lancia’s main objective is to give talented young drivers the chance of a professional rallying career and to provide them with a genuine opportunity to grow. To achieve this, the Trofeo Lancia will offer its participants the chance to become an official driver and compete in the 2026 European Rally Championship behind the wheel of a factory Lancia Ypsilon Rally4 HF. This prize alone is worth over €200,000 and will be awarded if the overall champion in the Trophy is under 35, so enrolled in either the Junior or Master category.

All the Lancia Trofeo champions will be celebrated at a dedicated end-of-year event and award ceremony in Turin. During the event, the winners of the three categories will receive their final prize: an ERC drive if the Junior or Master winner also takes the overall title, or €10,000. The Expert category champion will receive €5,000.

WHERE TRADITION MEETS INNOVATION: BEST PERFORMER, MIKI STAGE AND RALLY+

Every driver who reaches the finish line will score a point for the Trofeo Lancia, both in the overall rankings and category rankings, with an additional sliding scale of points that rewards the top 20 finishers. Trophy contenders will also have the chance to score bonus points thanks to innovations such as Best Performer, the Miki Stage, and Rally+. All of these opportunities could shake up the overall standings both on events and at the end of the year.

The Best Performer rewards pure speed, with five bonus points available on each rally for the driver who sets the most fastest times. This bonus score will be awarded even if the driver doesn’t finish the rally, meaning the courage to take risks is always rewarded. The Miki Stage is a nod to Lancia’s illustrious past, dedicated to Lancia’s two-time World Champion Miki Biasion. This will award three bonus points to the driver who is fastest on the rally’s final special stage. Which encourages every driver to push hard until the very end! Rally+ is a special joker card that every driver can play once a season as a reward for believing in themselves. On a rally of their choice, they will receive additional points in both the overall and category rankings, if they finish in the top five at the end.

SALES BOOM AND 6 EVENTS

The incredible build-up to Lancia’s return to rallying has been confirmed by the extraordinary sales success of the new Lancia Ypsilon Rally4 HF, which has already received over 80 pre-orders worldwide in January. These incredible numbers highlight the boom in interest for the Trofeo Lancia. However, commercial success must go hand in hand with sporting fairness, which is why the decision has been taken to move the car’s homologation to March 1, 2025, and postpone the start of the Trophy to the Targa Florio rally in May. This will allow all drivers and teams to receive their cars in plenty of time and have the same amount of pre-season experience, without giving anybody a temporary advantage.

As a result, the 2025 Trofeo Lancia will follow the Italian Rally Championship calendar but start on May 9 with the Targa Florio Rally and then continue 15 days later at the Rally Due Valli. July will feature the important Rally di Roma Capitale, which will also count for the European Championship. The Roman event will be divided into two events for the purposes of the Trophy, allowing teams and drivers to optimise travel costs and aim for double prize money. The first stage will count as Round 3, while the second stage will count as Round 4. After the summer break, the Trofeo Lancia will resume at the Rally del Lazio, before the grand finale at the well-known Rallye Sanremo.

But before the Trofeo even begins, the Lancia Corse HF team will be present at the Rally Regione Piemonte with full hospitality and many surprises for drivers and fans. Although this event will not count for the Trophy, it will serve as the symbolic prelude to the season, highlighting the strong connection between the Turin-based manufacturer and its home Piedmont region. With excitement and anticipation, the scene will be set for the official debut of the Trophy at the Targa Florio Rally just a few weeks later.
