Peter Andre’s Plea for Baby Name Inspiration: Ancestry Reveals Brits’ Top Considerations

Celebrity star, Peter Andre reveals he and his wife Emily have not yet settled on a name for their baby girl, despite welcoming their third child together a week ago. With this big decision looming, the singer has taken to Instagram to call the nation to help name their little one.

Ancestry®, the global leader in family history, reveals:

  • Over four in ten (42%) new parents consider how the name will sound when their child is older
  • the second most important factor to parents is keeping it in the family, with over a quarter (26%) wanting their chosen name to have a strong family link
  • Lastly, 22% of parents prefer the name picked to have a strong meaning behind it and Ancestry has newly launched its new name meaning tool, which enables you to discover the meaning, history, variations, and origin of first and last names from around the world

Surprisingly, two-thirds of parents (67%) have revealed they would choose the same baby name that family and friends have given their children.

In recent years, namely the birth of Molly-Mae’s daughter Bambi and Kylie Jenner changing her son’s name to Aire, celebrities have brought about a whole host of unique-inspired names. However, despite this growing spike in unusual names, only a quarter (26%) of Brits opt for a name that stands out, with two-thirds (62%) preferring to choose traditional names.
