Hyundai Motor America Unveils Elantra N1 TC Evo Race Car for SRO Competition
- Customer racing program expands to SRO Touring Car America Series
- Updated Hyundai Elantra N1 TC Evo race car set to debut in 2025
- SRO TC America Series will now include exciting Hyundai N Trophy Cup format for Hyundai racers
Sonoma, Calif., Dec. 3, 2024 – Today, Hyundai Motor America (HMA) unveiled its new Elantra N1 TC Evo race car at Sonoma Raceway. This evolutionary model will be the newest contender in SRO’s Touring Car (TC) America series beginning in 2025 to showcase the competitive strengths of Hyundai’s N performance vehicles. The race car will make its racing debut at the TC America series opener this March at Sonoma Raceway as Hyundai seeks to defend the 2024 TC Driver’s, Team and Manufacturer’s Championship.
Additionally, Hyundai will host the new Hyundai N Trophy Cup, a championship within a championship, which will be part of the TC America Series. In this format, competitors compete directly against other Hyundai entrants while also competing against the entire TC Series. The Hyundai N Trophy Cup will be hosted at four of the series’ seven race weekends, including both three-race weekend events. Hyundai N Trophy Cup Championship points will be tracked separately, and TC America entrants will be eligible for both championships and awards. More details will be available later.
The car’s updated exterior is based on the global ELANTRA N1 Cup Car, which participates in Korea’s Hyundai N Festival one-make series and the Hyundai N Cup in China. The vehicle includes new, wide fenders and 18×10-inch wheels, and is further enhanced to meet SRO TC Series homologation requirements. This updated platform adds to ELANTRA N’s lineage of being one of the most successful and complete cars for racing as well as daily driving. Notable racing successes include multiple Manufacturers and Driver’s titles, in IMSA TCR, TCR World Tour, and SRO TC America.
The TC America series is designed to offer drivers tough competition while providing a safe and exciting platform to hone their skills. Based on the roadgoing Hyundai Elantra N, the Elantra N1 TC Evo race car is perfect for drivers looking to take the next step in their development.
Hyundai will also select one driver at the end of the season to compete in the Nürburgring 24 Hour endurance race as part of an international invitational program for junior drivers. This individual will drive with other Hyundai-selected drivers from around the world. The season’s top drivers will also have opportunities to participate in global Elantra N1 Cup Series including the Hyundai N Festival in South Korea.
“TC America remains a crucial step on Hyundai’s motorsports ladder, offering an affordable gateway to highly competitive road racing on some of the most renowned tracks in the U.S.,” said Joon Park, Vice President of N Brand Management Group at Hyundai Motor Company. “The Elantra N1 TC Evo offers the perfect foundation to build on the success of its predecessor. We have no doubt that this updated racecar will become a favorite among teams and drivers in TC America.”
Hyundai Elantra N1 TC Evo will be available for sale through Ricca Autosport, which will also offer trackside parts and technical support to all Hyundai teams.
