FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Dec. 3, 2024 – Three-peats are an exceedingly rare achievement. However, that’s exactly what Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 has achieved, having today been awarded a coveted spot on Car and Driver’s 10Best Trucks and SUVs for 2025 list. This is the third year in a row that the all-electric SUV has earned a spot on the publication’s prestigious annual list. The model’s case has been strengthened with the addition of new high-performance IONIQ 5 N and rugged XRT variants, as well as a mid-cycle refresh delivering additional features, improved ergonomics, and longer range. For 2025, mainline IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 5 XRT models are now being assembled at Hyundai’s new, state-of-the-art HMGMA complex in Bryan County, Georgia.
Car and Driver’s annual 10Best list recognizes the industry’s best trucks and sport utility vehicles (SUVs). As a previous winner, IONIQ 5 was invited to defend its spot on the list. This new 10Best honor adds to a long list of awards and accolades for the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 5 N, including Car and Driver’s 2024 EV of the Year, also currently held by a Hyundai IONIQ model for the third straight year.
“Hyundai isn’t resting on its laurels,” said deputy editor Joey Capparella. “Even though the IONIQ 5 has been our most decorated electric SUV since its debut, in the spirit of continuous improvement, Hyundai treated the 2025 model to numerous updates. This year we’re adding the IONIQ 5 N to the list, its scintillating performance and the experience that it provides makes it a unique proposition in the EV world.”
Winning one title is an achievement. Two is an even greater accomplishment, but three is a trend, said Olabisi Boyle, senior vice president, product planning and mobility strategy, Hyundai Motor North America. “IONIQ 5 is an EV born from listening to our customers. It features a winning combination of smart design and engineering.”
