How WELL do you travel on business? Airport Lounge access pick of the perks in new survey
A recent study highlights the increasing importance of staff wellbeing in the context of business travel, according to findings by Principal Business Travel, who unveiled this data alongside their innovative “PrINcipal Rewards” program. The research, gathering insights from frequent business travelers and those responsible for organizing corporate travel, shines a light on current attitudes towards work-related journeys.
A significant portion of respondents, nearly 70%, underscored the necessity of personal downtime during business trips, reflecting a growing recognition of work-life balance. Additionally, over 60% felt that business travel contributed to their sense of accomplishment, and more than half entertained the idea of blending business trips with personal leisure, albeit uncertain about their employers’ policies on such arrangements.
The survey also identified airport lounge access as the top-valued perk for business travelers, followed by preferences for fast-track security and pre-reserved seating, indicating the priorities for comfort and efficiency on the move. However, sustainability appears to be a lesser concern among the surveyed group when it comes to work travel.
Ingrid Sanderson, the founder of Principal Business Travel, established in 1999, expressed optimism about the findings, especially the growing emphasis on wellbeing from both travelers and companies. “PrINcipal Rewards,” she explains, is designed to foster a healthier work-life balance by rewarding every aspect of business travel, from flights to hotel stays, with points that can be redeemed for various travel benefits and wellness rewards.
Despite the encouraging focus on wellbeing, the survey also revealed a gap in communication, with a majority of participants unaware of their company’s travel policies, highlighting an area for improvement in corporate transparency and engagement.
Looking forward to a promising year in business travel, Sanderson reminds clients that “PrINcipal Rewards” offers a path to enhanced wellbeing, viewing it as not just an objective but a reward to be cherished.
“PrINcipal Rewards” aims to merge professional achievements with personal health and happiness, offering a comprehensive rewards system that acknowledges every travel-related activity. The program encourages clients to accumulate points through all travel engagements, which can then be exchanged for exclusive rewards aimed at enriching both professional and personal life.
Participants of the program can expect a user-friendly process, starting with an online profile setup that securely stores travel preferences and details. Each travel activity with Principal Business Travel earns points, contributing to tier status and unlocking access to a broad selection of rewards aimed at enhancing the travel experience and overall wellbeing.
