Official Airline Partner of the Eurovision Song Contest, easyJet hosted an ultimate celebration in the skies for UK superfans

easyJet will fly 40,000 visitors from across Europe traveling for this year’s contest into Copenhagen airport and is set to operate over 10% more seats to and from Copenhagen compared to the same period last year

Over six million Brits will host a Eurovision party this week according to research by easyJet ahead of the competition, which kicks off this week in Malmo.

A poll of 2,000 UK adults found 35 percent will be tuning into the singing contest hosted in Sweden, with 36 percent of those either hosting their own festivities or celebrating at someone else’s home – equalling 6.5 million.

easyJet joined the millions of Brits hosting Eurovision parties this year with its own celebrations.  In a spectacular show of music and unity, sequin-clad Eurovision fans took to the skies donning their best Eurovision costumes.

The special flight departed from London Gatwick, sprinkling the skies with sequins and song as it cruised to Copenhagen Airport. As the anticipation for the contest’s semi-finals builds, this superfan flight welcomed Eurovision enthusiasts, from the world’s biggest Eurovision fan club, the General Organisation of Eurovision Fans (OAGE), as well as celebrity and influencer mega-fans.

The flight featured a dedicated themed baggage drop, fancy dress, and a talent show at 40,000 feet, hosted by Drag Race star Tia Kofi.

The study was conducted by easyJet, which is the Official Airline of the Eurovision Song Contest, bringing the people of Europe together to celebrate the world’s largest live music event.

It also revealed that the most popular costume donned at celebrations is set to be D’Nash, Spain’s 2007 entrant (21%), followed by the UK’s 1976 winners Brotherhood of Man (13%) and Jedward’s famous stage outfits from their entry for Ireland in 2021 (13%).

UK fans are backing this year’s entry, with 33 percent agreeing that ‘Dizzy’ by Olly Alexander is the strongest track we’ve put forward in recent years.

Despite this positivity, 64 percent think it’s unlikely to win – because of the UK’s bad track record in previous years (43 percent).

easyJet will fly 40,000 visitors from across Europe traveling for this year’s contest into Copenhagen airport, which provides quick, direct access to the host city of Malmö, Sweden, where the live semi-final and final events will take place on the 7th, and 9th , and 11th May.
