Corona Beer Brand Ditches Emojis: Discover the Reasons
London, March 2024: Following the latest annual release of new emojis on iOS, which sees the introduction of a wedge of lime, a must-have accompaniment to every Corona, the beer brand announces a pledge to keep a Corona bottle emoji locked away, never to be seen or used.
Corona, renowned for its crisp taste, and golden hue and always topped perfectly with a wedge of lime, has decided to create its emoji in response to the increasing digitization of all the things they love. The beer brand will now own its Corona emoji, meaning it can protect it from being shared with the public, to encourage more real-life moments over virtual ones.
The pledge to go ‘emojis’ means people will only ever be able to enjoy Corona in the real world, with a real lime. Therefore, as a way to honor the pledge, Corona is inviting people to enjoy the beer – on them!
