Citroën Enhances On-Board Comfort with ChatGPT Integration
For Citroën, comfort is a true signature that goes beyond physical comfort and relies on various innovations to offer an easier, serene and rejuvenating on-board experience. In this respect, Citroën is pleased to introduce ChatGPT, generative artificial intelligence, on the C4, C4 X, C5 X, Berlingo, Spacetourer, Berlingo Van and Jumpy. Developed by OpenAI, ChatGPT is integrated into Citroën’s infotainment system using SoundHound’s voice and audio recognition system. As an artificial intelligence language model, it has been developed to generate responses based on in-depth learning, taking us a step closer to an intelligent, interactive in-car experience that makes everyday life easier.
On the one hand, this feature improves the voice recognition already available on the Brand’s models, bringing it even closer to natural language and making it more precise and responsive. On the other, it enriches it and transforms it into a travel companion capable of understanding and answering complex questions, or giving advice on many different subjects (from historical information or tips on what to do in a city, to recipes, and much more). ChatGPT is available via the Connect PLUS pack.
Improved voice recognition: totally natural language.
Improved voice recognition is one of the main benefits brought by the arrival of ChatGPT. Thanks to significant advances in natural language processing, voice recognition becomes more accurate and responsive, enabling drivers to interact with their vehicle in a natural and fluid way. Drivers can use voice commands to perform a variety of tasks, such as adjusting the temperature, navigating to a destination, without taking their eyes off the road. And it can go beyond that and carry on real conversations, providing answers like a human assistant on an infinite number of areas of general knowledge.
Tests carried out in May 2024 have shown that the new system reduces by almost 68% the number of misunderstandings that sometimes lead to the reply “I didn’t understand your question”. The same tests showed that ChatGPT’s level of fluidity and interactivity increased the use of voice recognition by almost 70%.
Customers can use ChatGPT in the same way they use their voice assistant today. It can be activated in 3 ways (depending on the model):
– By saying the existing wake-up word “Hello Citroën”.
– By pressing the voice recognition button on the steering wheel
– By pressing the microphone widget on the display.

The customer journey
For Citroën customers who order a vehicle after 3 July 2023, ChatGPT is now included in the Connect PLUS pack. Subscription to the Connect PLUS pack is included in the price of the vehicle for a period of 12 months, with the option to renew by subscription thereafter for €9.90/month. If their 12-month free trial is still active, ChatGPT will be added to their pack at no extra cost for the remainder of their trial. If their Connect PLUS pack trial has expired, ChatGPT will be available when they renew their Connect PLUS subscription.
For customers who have ordered a vehicle before 3 July 2023, ChatGPT will be available to purchase as an on-demand feature for €1.5 per month or €15 per year via the Connected Navigation connected services contract.
*Just remember that ChatGPT version 3.5 uses data up to January 2022, so it has no knowledge of events and data after this date.
