Stellantis’ Heritage department is proud to announce that, starting this month, Abarth vehicles produced from 2007 to today are also eligible to receive its Certificate of Origin. In yet another demonstration of the Stellantis department’s commitment to preserving and promoting Italian automotive history, Abarth has been added to a list of brands available for certification which already includes Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Lancia.

Over the last 16 years, many limited editions and special series of Abarth models have been produced, including some authentic “youngtimers” which have been immensely appreciated by customers since their launch. These include the iconic 2010 Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari and 2012 Abarth 695 Maserati Edition, two models which have become legendary among collectors and the brand’s fans.

Abarth vehicle owners from 2007 onwards can now request a Certificate of Origin, providing detailed production data and adding historical value, through Stellantis Heritage.
Certificate of Origin Now Available for Abarth Vehicles.

Roberto Giolito, Head of Stellantis Heritage (Alfa Romeo, FIAT, Lancia, Abarth) states: “We are happy to extend this service to Abarth fans as well, knowing how strong their connection to the brand is and knowing how much they share our belief in performance and distinctive style. Moreover, the Certificate of Origin is much more than a simple piece of paper; it embodies the history and the passion that sets every Abarth apart, while simultaneously strengthening the brand’s identity and preserving its heritage.”

Specifically, the Certificate of Origin for the Scorpion’s vehicles provides a detailed report on the car’s production characteristics, including its date of production, country of sale, sales date, exterior color, interiors, and engine number. It has significant cultural and historical value, offering the opportunity for one to uncover the car’s history via the chassis number, which must simply be entered into the online form on the Heritage website (link).

In addition to the Certificate of Origin, Stellantis Heritage also offers Abarth enthusiasts—as well as Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Lancia owners—a Certification of Authenticity, which involves a detailed technical analysis and meticulous archival research. Furthermore, private collectors can also take advantage of a refined maintenance, repair, and restoration service carried out directly by specialized technicians from the Officine Classiche in Turin at the Mirafiori factory—the same team which takes care of the company’s prized Stellantis Heritage collection every day. As they belong to the company which designed, developed, and produced these vehicles, there is no better team to make sure each vehicle performs at its best.

Lastly, Heritage Stellantis’ services also include “Reloaded by creators”, a project which involves the sale of a limited number of classic vehicles from the Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia, and Abarth brands: certified historical models which have been restored to their original beauty by experts from the Officine Classiche. From discovery to painstaking scouting work, restoration, and finally the return to the market, “Reloaded by creators” offers a “complete cycle” that adds cultural worth to a car’s financial value. Because safeguarding a legacy means renewal, and not just conservation.

All of these activities which are appreciated by classic car lovers take place at the Officine Classiche, Stellantis Heritage’s restoration and certification workshop, which have been operating in the former Officina 83 at Mirafiori in via Plava in Turin since 2015. Completely renovated and expanded in 2022, the Officine Classiche now occupy a surface area of approximately 6,000 m2 with 12 hoists, specific machine tools and a line for highly accurate finishes, which includes a cabin specially designed for the painting of individual components. From 2015 to today, many Certifications of Authenticity have been issued to car owners throughout the world: from Japan to the USA, Costa Rica, Thailand, and Antigua. It should be noted that the Certificates of Origin and Authenticity have different origins and purposes, as well as a specific process for receiving them. The process for requesting these special documents from Stellantis Heritage is detailed below.

Certificate of Origin
With this document, fans of Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Fiat, and now Abarth (for models produced from 2007 to today) can obtain a certificate with a detailed report on all of the original characteristics of the vehicle when it came off the production line. Thus, the customer is sure to find the production date, country of sale, sales dates, the exterior color, the engine number, and other details on this document. The process for obtaining it is incredibly easy: simply fill out the online form on the Heritage site (link), using the vehicle’s chassis number to verify the vehicle in the production records held in the historic archives in Turin for Abarth, Fiat, and Lancia, and in Arese for Alfa Romeo. Once verified and confirmed, an email gets sent with a list of the information available and the payment method. The Certificate of Origin’s price varies depending on the brand and can be viewed on the Heritage website. After the order has been paid, a detailed document is prepared and sent first via email and later printed on elegant parchment and sent directly to the customer’s home.

Certification of Authenticity
While the Certificate of Origin is the “simple” transposition of the data from the production records held in the archives onto a certificate, the Certificate of Authenticity is a service which goes far beyond the production data and is the only document which attests to the car’s originality, taking all of the work carried on vehicle into consideration. This description should already make it clear that it is much more complicated to obtain it compared to the Certificate of Origin. In fact, a detailed technical analysis and meticulous archival research is necessary to verify that the vehicle has maintained all of its original characteristics over time. The Certification of Authenticity is available for vehicles over 20 years old or discontinued models and limited series for the Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia and Abarth brands and can be requested via the form on our website. Further information can be requested via email at the following email address: heritage@stellantis.com. During the preliminary phase, customers can choose where they want to carry out the checks and can choose between the Officine Classiche in Turin or the Stellantis facilities in Rome and Palermo. There is another possibility available which our customers appreciate immensely: the ability to host the analysis session at the owner’s home. Obviously, the vehicle must be located within a close and covered space equipped with electrical lighting and a hoist for vehicles. The cost varies based on the model and can come anywhere between 600 and 12,000 euros plus VAT. One can also add a certification book to the service, which contains the vehicle’s history, maintenance criteria, and photos of the analyzed components. The price is €350 plus VAT if written in Italy or €450 plus VAT for an English version. After a detailed quote of the services is sent, the customer, if he or she accepts, pays for the vehicle inspection beforehand, in addition to potential travel expenses for the teams, and arrangements are made for the vehicle inspection. At this stage, the Officine Classiche experts collect all of the customer’s documents, photographing and examining the vehicle’s main mechanical parts. Then, investigations and research into the vehicle are carried out using the company’s internal resources and external ones, including the original technical drawings held in the Group’s archives. The documentation and the technical analysis are then handed over to an internal commission at Stellantis headed by Roberto Giolito and Top Management of the brand in question for a final deliberation. If the result is positive, the customer completes payment and receives the Certificate of Authenticity alongside a certification plaque and the book, if requested.

Abarth vehicles from 2007 to today
The legend of the brand with the Scorpion badge started on March 31, 1949 when Carlo Abarth (1908-1979) founded Abarth & C. with driver Guido Scagliarini. Since then, the history of Abarth has been full of racing and industrial records, always in the spirit of the founder to combine maximum performance, craftsmanship and constant technical refinement. The glorious past was actualized again in 2008 when the brand was relaunched with a new line-up created for motorsports enthusiasts. The new Certificate of Origin issued by Stellantis Heritage begins in year of brand’s rebirth, as exemplified by the Abarth Grande Punto (2007) and the Abarth 500 (2008), in addition to tuning kits for each car and the racing versions of the Abarth Grande Punto Rally Super 2000 and the Abarth 500 Assetto Corse. Since then, new models have been launched thick and fast: the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari (2010), the Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing (2015), the Abarth 695 Biposto Record (2015), the Abarth 695 Rivale (2017), the Abarth 124 spider (launched in 2016), the Abarth 124 GT and the new Abarth 595 range (both introduced in 2018). Then in 2019, it was the turn of the Abarth “70th Anniversary” range, available in the Abarth 595 and Abarth 124, and the 695 70th Anniversary special series. For example, the Abarth 695 Tributo 131 Rally and the New Abarth 500e—completely electric, faster, and more thrilling in both city and rural driving—made their debuts in 2022. And, once again in 2022, to highlight the brand’s increasing international presence, Abarth continued its global expansion with the South American launch of the New Abarth Pulse, the historic brand’s first SUV. Then, Abarth was proud to go beyond European and Asian borders once again with the introduction of the Abarth Fastback one year later.  Lastly, the new 695 75th Anniversario made its debut this year and a new partnership was announced with Stellantis Motorsport for the creation of the most powerful mass production Abarth ever: the New Abarth 600e which will be produced in a limited run of 1,949 models in the Scorpionissima launch version. This is the most challenging and high-performing project developed by the brand in recent years. Once again, Abarth has reached its founder’s one true objective: “To transform the ordinary into the extraordinary”.
