Accor Expands Americas Presence with 17 New Hotel Openings

Accor announced today that it has entered into exclusive negotiations with Royal Holiday Group to acquire 17 management contracts (3,200 keys). The portfolio includes six all-inclusive resorts in Mexico (1,660 keys) to be operated by Ennismore, as well as eleven resorts and city hotels in Mexico, Argentina, Puerto Rico, and the United States (1,540 keys), to be operated by Accor PM&E Americas. The acquisition price of $79 million will be paid in installments, with the entire amount being used to partially finance the $130 million renovation plan for the properties over the next 30 months.

This asset-light entity, which brings together hotels located in strategic beach destinations, will enable Accor to increase the presence of its brands in the Americas. The Group will thus accelerate its growth in this region, particularly in Mexico, and continue to expand its portfolio of all-inclusive resorts, which has posted a compound annual growth rate of 25% over the past three years.

Three properties in Cancun, Cozumel, and Puerto Vallarta will be rebranded as Rixos Hotels following renovations, marking a major step forward in the brand’s international growth, marking its first entry into the Americas. Three properties in Cancun, Acapulco, and Ixtapa will continue to operate under the existing brand. The remaining eleven properties will be rebranded as Swissôtel, Mercure, Mercure Living, or ibis Styles following renovations.

Accor is set to acquire 17 hotels across the Americas, expanding its all-inclusive and midscale offerings with major rebrands and a $130 million renovation investment.

Thomas Dubaere, CEO of Accor Americas , said: “This is a great opportunity for Accor to expand its Premium, Midscale and Economy brands into new US destinations. This is an important acquisition for us, and we are committed to supporting and serving the communities in which these resorts are located, building strong relationships with these territories and contributing to their sustainable development. We look forward to delivering, alongside our new partners, the finest experiences to our guests while having a positive impact on the development of these magnificent destinations.”

Gaurav Bhushan, Co-CEO of Ennismore , added: “Since the Rixos brand joined Accor in 2017, its network has more than tripled in size, cementing its position as a global leader in luxury all-inclusive resorts and delivering sustained growth in the Middle East, Egypt and Turkey. This strategic acquisition allows the Rixos brand to establish its first foothold in the Americas, one of the most promising all-inclusive hospitality markets. As Ennismore accelerates the international expansion of its all-inclusive portfolio, the integration of six resorts into our collective will allow us to significantly strengthen our presence in the midscale segment, thus opening up new growth opportunities in major international destinations.”

The transaction is expected to be finalized in the second half of 2025, after obtaining the usual regulatory authorizations, including approval from the competition authorities.
