“ At Accor, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of design and technology to further enhance the guest experience ,” said Damien Perrot, Director of International Design, Technical Services and Innovation, Premium, Midscale and Economy Brands, Accor . “The Transforming Room is an innovative research initiative that allows us to observe and understand how guests interact in a multifunctional space. The insights gained are invaluable as we continue to innovate and create environments that adapt to the diverse and ever-changing needs of our guests, ensuring Pullman remains at the forefront of hospitality design.”
In the Transforming Room, restorative sleep experiences are based on a multi-sensory journey that helps guests relax and fall into a deep sleep. At the end of the day, staff unfold the Murphy bed from its discreet wall storage. With a few clicks on the dedicated app, the video screen turns off, the blackout curtains close and the COMPOZ module diffuses the programmed scents to create an atmosphere that promotes falling asleep.
Similarly, the Transforming Room offers a personalized multi-sensory wake-up experience. At the touch of a button, the curtains part and the room is bathed in natural light, which stimulates the body’s serotonin production. Throughout the day, scents can be changed depending on mood or activity, with the list of fragrances set using the room’s app.
The prototype app also features a range of fitness and mindfulness meditation sessions, currently hosted by PELOTON, as well as digital art with ARTPOINT. The modular elements can be easily moved to isolate a dedicated wellness or fitness space. The app allows you to select the wellness activities you want, hosted by professional trainers and displayed on the room’s large screen.
In-room dining is also being upgraded. With the Murphy bed folded away, it’s possible to create a private, intimate dining area, perfect for a tête-à-tête dinner, a party with friends or a working lunch for a creative team.
Pullman, a long experience in the design of hybrid spaces
Pullman is one of the world’s oldest hotel brands and one of the most innovative in the travel industry. In the 1860s, Pullman revolutionized the industry, establishing an inseparable link between business travelers and a high-end lifestyle that blends art, culture and gastronomy.
“Since its inception, Pullman has always been the place where business and lifestyle meet. What we now call Blended Travel, where different perspectives and goals meet ,” explains Benoît Racle . “This is the heritage of the Pullman brand and the model that guides the Transforming Room. If we want the time spent in our hotels to be transformative, the space that welcomes our guests must be too.”
The Transforming Room at Pullman Singapore Orchard is open for booking for work, business meetings, socialising and, of course, overnight stays.
