Paris, France – November 12, 2024 – The first of two Orient Express ships, it will set sail from June 2026 for routes in the Mediterranean, the Adriatic, and then the Caribbean.
“The Orient Express’ imagination is limitless, a world of dreams, encounters, movement and emotions. With Orient Express Corinthian, the legendary Orient Express is now preparing to sail the most beautiful seas in the world to offer a unique experience of travel and discovery. A sailboat inspired by the golden age of luxury cruises, reinventing movement and comfort on the water and designed to meet the sustainable challenges of tomorrow. A source of pride for all of us.” explains Sébastien Bazin, Chairman and CEO of Accor .
A technological gem, designed by Chantiers de l’Atlantique, with its sleek lines, Orient Express Corinthian will be the largest sailing ship in the world. 220 metres long, with 4,500m2 of sail area deployed on its three tilting masts, the ship will be able to reach a speed of 17 knots, driven by the force of the wind alone.
The sailboat is designed by the architect Maxime d’Angeac, Artistic Director of Orient Express, with an exceptional, refined decor, inspired by the golden age of the Orient Express and the spirit of innovation and comfort that have made the legend of this legendary brand.
“All the suites and the entire universe of this sailboat have been imagined as unique spaces, removed from the classic decorative grammar of Orient Express, but faithful to its very particular codes, comments Maxime d’Angeac . A contemporary vision of Orient Express, that of an era where high quality is thought of in excellence and calls for a true aesthetic revolution.”
By combining the quality of the goldsmith’s work of the most advanced French craftsmen and that of the engineers of one of the best shipyards in the world, Orient Express Corinthian offers a unique experience between dream, technology and comfort on board. A true reinvention of the relationship with time, this sailboat will allow you to discover the land by arriving by sea, to enjoy authentic experiences around iconic anchorages and stopovers.
On board, Orient Express Corinthian has 54 suites ranging from 45m2 to 230m2; a luxury assumed to preserve privacy and optimize the comfort of its travelers. 48 of them are located on decks 4, 5 and 6, and 6 exceptional suites will be located on deck 7. Equipped with panoramic bay windows or private terraces offering an exceptional view, the suites of the Orient Express Corinthian have all been designed as cocoons open to the sea. These places of dreaming, relaxation and rest, offer passengers private spaces to read, write, eat or simply recharge their batteries while admiring the view. Wood, leather and marble enhance all the rooms, in works crafted by talented, exceptional craftsmen, selected with taste.
In order to satisfy all desires, the sailboat also has five restaurants with neat elegance, warm, timeless decor, each expressing a strong personality. Eight bars including a speakeasy with 1930s inspiration, a 115-seat cabaret replaying the Parisian and Art Deco spirit, a recording studio, a movie theater and a Spa complete the universe of the sailboat.
Another must-see place and escape space, the Marina located at the stern of the sailboat will accommodate dinners and nautical activities on the surface of the water. And for absolute relaxation, the 16.60 m long swimming corridor (deck 6) will allow swimmers to practice.
140 years after the launch of the first luxury trains, and a century after the legendary Normandie liner, Orient Express Corinthian continues to write history and completes the Orient Express legend by adding a maritime page, which innovates with style and panache.
