Here, the spiritual power of your surroundings helps you feel a deeper connection between all sentient things, as you relax your body, mind, and spirit, and awaken your inner energy with a Tai Chi session.
Qingcheng Taiji
You couldn’t be in a more auspicious place to delve into such an ancient and sacred practice; Qing Cheng Mountain is where the legendary priest Zhang invented Qingcheng Taiji (or Tai Chi) during the Eastern Han Dynasty (25–220 A.D.).
Tai Chi is a Chinese martial art rooted in the culture and philosophy of Taoism. Initially developed for combat and self-defense, it has evolved into a sport and form of exercise practiced across the globe. It involves a series of slow gentle movements and physical postures completed in tandem with controlled breathing to bring about a meditative state of mind.
Taoism teaches that all living creatures should strive to live in harmony with the universe and the energy (Ch’i or Qi) that guides everything within it, emphasizing the need for living in spiritual and physical accord with the patterns of nature. After all, humans are nature.
The Tao, or the Way
Following a series of gentle movements can create powerful and lasting enlightenment. By taking Qi as its core tenet and connecting the harmonious rhythm between your body and your surroundings, you’ll feel your inner energy shift as you unify and connect with the Tao or the Way.
The Tao’s enduring influence continues to resonate and guide millions of people worldwide, advocating for a simple, more balanced life as a lasting path to happiness, harmony, and spiritual growth.
Dive deeper into the Birthplace of Taoism through a half-day guided hike into the mountains. As you reach the summit of Qing Cheng Mountain, it’s time to rest your limbs and gaze in awe at the incredible panoramic view.
