BMW M3 CS Touring Sets Nürburgring Record as Fastest Touring Car with 7:29.5 Lap Time

BMW M3 CS Touring Sets Record Lap Time at Nürburgring
BMW’s newest performance wagon, the M3 CS Touring, has become the fastest Touring model ever on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, clocking a lap time of 7:29.490 minutes. The record, verified on the 20.823-kilometre circuit, marks a new benchmark for mid-size Touring vehicles and confirms BMW M GmbH’s continued dominance on the famed German track.
CEO Franciscus van Meel hailed the achievement as a testament to the model’s capabilities: “With a time under 7:30 minutes, this model impressively demonstrates that this vehicle concept perfectly combines racing DNA with everyday usability.”

Driven by BMW M development engineer Jörg Weidinger, the M3 CS Touring’s record-setting lap beats the previous Touring record—set by the M3 Touring in 2022—by over five seconds.
It also comes close to the BMW M3 CS sedan’s lap time of 7:28.760 minutes, underscoring the high-performance potential of the Touring variant. The Touring’s time places it just behind the M4 CS (7:21.989) and M4 CSL (7:18.137) in the brand’s performance hierarchy.

The M3 CS Touring features a 405 kW (550 hp) inline six-cylinder engine, hitting 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and topping out at 300 km/h. Power is delivered through an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, with chassis and stability systems tuned for high-performance track use. The car also includes a specially designed engine mount, M-specific exhaust, and optional carbon-ceramic brakes for maximum control.

Beyond its speed, the M3 CS Touring remains practical, offering between 500 and 1,510 litres of cargo space. The interior blends track-ready performance with digital innovation and distinctive design.
BMW’s deep ties to the Nürburgring continue to shape its engineering. The M Test Centre at the track, along with facilities like the BMW M Power Grandstand and the BMW M Driving Experience, underline the brand’s commitment to performance development in real-world conditions. The circuit remains a key proving ground for both vehicle testing and motorsport, where BMW M recently secured its 21st overall win at the Nürburgring 24 Hours through a stellar performance from ROWE Racing.
The BMW M3 CS Touring now joins the ranks of BMW’s most capable vehicles—on both the track and the road—strengthening its reputation as the ultimate “One Car Solution.”
